At first I thought it was more of a children's book based on the writing, as it is written at more of a 6th grade level, but there is one scene in the book that is definitely only for adults (I would not feel comfortable having a child read it). I liked it because it sheds light on the Chinese culture and how kidnappings are an often too familiar part of life. However, the quality of writing is such that I put it down multiple times over the past few months to start books that were more exciting. The story is slow enough and so simply written that I could put the book down for 3-4 months and pick it up again without feeling like I was lost. A Thread Unbroken is a story of two girl’s strength during the hardest time of their life. Chai and Josi are kidnapped from their small Chinese village, and put into a house where they are told to put their old lives behind them and move on. Chai refuses to do so, and so does her father Jun. Jun spends all his time and money to try and find the girls, no matter what others tell him. This book is a wonderful read and is full of emotions that you can’t help but get into.

A quick read, very interesting. I don't know much about child trafficking in China.
