This is the first book in this series and I loved it. It is a top notch mystery all the clues are there and the author does not cheat or springs clues at the end.Carly the protagonist is fun smart and stubborn she is very likable and someone i would want to know if she was a real person. The novel is set in the South and the author has gotten the southern dialect down pat. I can hear the women in my family with every oh hell no and bless your heart. The book is fun it had me laughing out loud is spots. And I can't wait to read more about Carly her family and the charming town of Hitching Post. If you like your cozies with a dash of humor, mixed with real magic as well as intriguing murder then this is must read book. I always found the label 'light mystery' odd because how is a murder 'light'. But the book was entertaining, charming, and made me want to read more about these characters as soon as possible. Always a great sign for a book. The only complaint is that the murder victim himself was so mild and quiet of personality compared to the larger than life personalities of the rest of the characters that I kept forgetting about the victim completely.
I am a huge fan of this author! love her other series, can't wait for more of this one.
