A Perfect Secret is the third in a series of Regency romance novels, with each book featuring one brother in the Amesbury family. The first one is about Cole, the second about Jared. What drew me in to this book were the characters. We get a flashback to an event that happened in Christian's past, and from that moment, I found he was a character I instantly took a liking to. He came across as being honorable, courageous, and I found myself rooting for him.Genevieve, or Jen, was a character that it took a little longer for me to warm up to, simply because of the choices she made at the beginning, and I was frustrated because of that. The further along in the book I got, the more my attitudes towards her shifted as more of her story was revealed and she became more sympathetic. The chemistry that she and Christian had really became evident the further I read, and as a result, I really wanted him and Genevieve to have their happy ending. As far as Wickburgh, in the simplest terms: obsessive, abusive, and psychotic top the list. He was a character that was easy to dislike, but he was created in such a way that he's memorable.I also grew to love many of the secondary characters. Christian's brother Grant was the one that caught my attention right away, because he came across as being somewhat mysterious, but he was there when Christian needed him. Cole and Jared are characters that also caught my attention, and I want to go back and read their stories now. Their sister, Rachel, instantly became one of my favorites as well.Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and the characters had a large part in that. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes clean regency romance or historical romance. My rating is 4/5 platypires. I LOVE Regency Romance. I have the first book of this series sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read. I have wanted to read a book by Donna Hatch for quite a while. I am glad that I am taking part in this tour, just so I have a reason to set aside time to read this book. The story begins with heartbreak. Genevieve marries the wrong man to save her father from a charge of treason. She marries an abusive and cruel man. She breaks the heart of an honest and caring gentleman. One year later finds her battered and emotionally spent. She has just miscarried and tries to throw herself into a river to end her unhappy life. Fortunately, Christian, the man she loved and lost, sees her attempt and rescues her from the river. It is a tough situation for both of them. He doesn't understand why she married someone else, and she isn't free to let him know she still cares for him.The writing in this book is wonderful. Donna has done a wonderful job at pulling me in the story. Her characters are believable and I actually cared about what happened to them. I will be getting to the first book as soon as I possibly can. I would love to find out more about the brother's featured in this series.

I liked the story, but her evil characters are really evil and I get uneasy about it sometimes.
