About book A Mensagem De Elena (2008)

This book was heartbreaking and wonderful at the same time. It's one of those books where I needed to be in a certain mood to read it. I will say it now, the tears came and the came hard. Several times while reading the book I would have those small tears escape and fall down. Then the authors had me laughing like a crazy person. It was the perfect mix of tears and laughter. Reading this has made me really enjoy my life and everything that I have been given. Live each day as if it was your last. Meet 6 year old Elena Desserich, a tiny, loving, sweet little girl who battled a rare form of brain cancer. However she did not let that cancer beat her down. She stood up tall and lived a strong life. Notes Left Behind is the personal journal of Elena's parents during the battle for their daughters left. It reminds readers that everyone is human and that the smallest thing can take them down. But when her parents were at their darkest moments Elena knew how to cheer them. She would leave notes all around their house. Notes for famliy members to find and read. This was a great read and little Elena is a child that EVERYONE, no matter the age can and should look up to. Because when something bad was thrown at her she sent a smile or a laugh back at it. This is a book that I believe everyone should read. This book is written in a journal/diary form beginning shortly after Elena is diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor and ending almost a year after her death. It's a look into what life was like during that time for her family, one that, thought at times hard to read, was shared with great poignancy. This actually would be a great book club book as it offers many sections for discussion. Alternatively, it could also be read by older teens for discussion in class.
