2.5. I did like it, really. But there were a few things that bothered me, obviously the indication of dialogue being one of those. I don't like books that don't use quotation marks, it's messy. Also, there were so many open ends. It was too fast. If it would have been better paced, if there was more explanation and elaboration, I could see this becoming a series, but you can't build off of this. Or, it's too easy to. I think she just rushed into writing this book. She just wanted to do it and get it done and didn't take the time that the story deserved. Though, it really is a great idea An interesting look at what our culture has become and what it easily could have become. Girl in the Arena takes place in a slightly altered world where gladiator fighting has become an "ESPN" broadcast sport. There are rules and bylaws that come with living the life of a gladiator family. Much of that world is filled with endorsements and contacts. What happens when one girl decides to fight against all of it.
