I don’t really have anything bad to say about it other than the fact that I thought the science was shaky at best. I know it’s a fantasy book and therefore there has to be some suspense of disbelief but I think it was pushed a bit too far in this case. I also thought the part about Sharyn, the research assistant, was odd and a bit sexist. It’s a fact that almost all the female characters in these kinds of books are written as physically attractive and the juxtaposition of that with the fact that they’re incredibly intelligent is always commented upon. Probably because all of these books are written by men, god bless the patriarchy. However there was one section that really irked me. It went on and on about how this girl could be a catwalk model and yet she was a low paid research assistant, as if being a catwalk model (and therefore being validated as attractive) was a way more exciting prospect than working in a field that you love at the cutting edge of knowledge in that subject. It just struck me as shallow and ridiculous in a genre that has more than its fair share of shallow and ridiculous. I think my favourite character was the dog who was clearly a badass. If you don’t know much about science and can suspend your disbelief for the length of a novel, and if you don’t notice intrinsic sexism, then I recommend it to you. Once again, James Rollins took me on a wild ride with an impressive storyline, cunning villains, lots of action, explosion, mystery, science, and I'm losing my breath here...in a nutshell, it rocked my world that I'm inspired to review it.I've grown to appreciate Gray and Painter, they're such admirable characters. What draws me in is their resilience, the will to survive no matter how dire the consequences. Of course, there's top notch intelligence and how they almost always get back at the enemy.Mr Rollins just knows how to weave the pieces together in a seamless fashion. I thought I knew how to identify the bad and the good, even suspecting the most honest, but sadly it didn't work out that way. The writing style keeps me on edge. There are a lot of facts and fiction meshed to create an excellent story that would make you wonder, and amaze you.The scientific explanations and historical notes are obviously researched comprehensively and the author never fails to separate what's fact and what's fiction. This is constant in all his sigma force novels, giving credit where/whom it's due, and references for one's reading pleasure.I'm overwhelmed to review the actual story, we meet new characters, a lot of changes happen here, tragedy, hope, and my curiosity is piqued for the next Sigma Force Novel.
Do You like book A Colónia Do Diabo (2010)?
This book was not as good as previous stories in this series. It does move the characters forward.

Right on par with the other Sigma novels. It was nice to have one of the adventures on US soil.
