I am in love with Crane and Stephen! And, I am so glad that they admitted this state to each other. If anything this story was better than the first because the relationship between Crane and Stephen was established. Of course, it was not perfect, and for various reasons each man was afraid to reveal their growing feelings for each other. It really was a relief, and I let out a shout of "yea!" when each admitted they loved the other. The story is a very good one that involves... ick... rats! It may be a somewhat short book but it is an involved story that the reader needs to pay attention to. When the final, explosive ending comes the action happens so quickly you'll need to know all of whom is involved and why.I need the third story. I just don't want these two gentlemen to leave my imagination. Renaissance era stories don't often reference China, that was a nice touch. It really could use an edit, it was rough in places. I like that the main character is such a hard ass, nice to see a strong willed gay. The sex scenes were a bit too "bodice ripper" for me, not written at all like the rest of the book. The supporting characters had nice depth, the tension between the main couple based on their class and the underlining plot were very engaging. The magic system was interesting. Great climatic end fight. I want to read the previous book now.
Do You like book A Case Of Possession (2014)?
I didn't enjoy this quite as much as the first. Might have been the singular POV.
