3,5*This story had great potential and it started out perfect and parts in between were really nice. But, the really deep seated aversion between the two I couldn't feel or rather it was kind of existent/non-existent. Whi would go sit with his enemy watch baseball and joke around very early in the story and than go back t, I don't like him. This was kind of inconsistent.Also the figure of Mary was kind of a mystery to me. This was just a really well written story about friends to almost lovers to enemies to lovers again. Encompassing their past within the story of their present in some very clever ways so that at the end I felt I had a full picture of these two men's history. That's just not easy to do in 20,000 words, but Anyta just seemed to make it look very easy indeed. The mark of real skill.I have to mention the Mountain Dew. I too do not advocate "pop" for my children, since it is so very bad for the teeth, however, reading this reminded me that, when I was younger I did guzzle quite a bit and mostly it was Mountain Dew. I can't stand the stuff now. I'm sure Dylan and Chris only drink it because of the memories it holds for them.I'll be keeping this one to reread because, well, I did kind of lose count of those kisses. Maybe that was the whole idea though ;)
