About book Young Children And Mathematics: Classroom Contexts And Curriculum (2000)
Considering I moved to St Thomas, Virgin Islands 16 years ago, I could really relate to this book. A little snarky and cynical, but otherwise a very accurate rendition of picking up and moving to a 3rd world country. Adaptability. That is what you need, and over time, this author has certainly learned to adapt and love her new home. At times very funny and certainly brought back memories of my first year in the VI. The first year in a new environment is always challenging. Love to read about her experiences and challenges. 3.5 StarsAs someone who has recently re-located to Costa Rica, many of the anecdotes offered by Nadine made me laugh, understanding completely what she was going through. For example, Costa Ricans LOVE to stamp any vaguely official piece of paper. She wrote about just buying her own stamp and doing it herself, as it seemed that as long as a paper has a stamp somewhere, it's "official." Totally thought of doing that myself! This is very a light read (for better or worse) and definitely could have used another round of proofreading. I'm also not sure about the factual accuracy of all of her stories (though this may have to do with the fact that she wrote the book several years ago).Overall, I enjoyed Nadine's book and I look forward to reading more about her adventures in Costa Rica.
