About book You Belong To Me (2011)

There’s a murdering lunatic on the loose leaving victim after victim specifically for one Baltimore medical examiner/pathologist to find. That medical examiner is Lucy Trask. A somewhat mysterious and quiet, serious 34 year old doctor who it seems to be leading a double life. The detectives assigned to the case; JD Fitzpatrick and Stevie Mazzetti are very dedicated and good at their job and look hard to how the mutilated corpses connect to Lucy specifically. It appears it has something to do with her past and her family – exactly twenty one years ago - although Lucy herself can’t see what that event might be.This story is both a crime novel and a romance. You guessed it, JD and Lucy fall in attraction for each other. Personally, I wasn’t that convinced (especially Lucy has a lot of hang-ups – and that double life of hers is hard to believe), but it offered a nice change of pace. The solving of the crime part is more compelling. The thread that binds all the characters is intriguing. The the book is - at its core - your typical revenge story, the how, what, and who is interesting and well written, and yes I got very captivated and I couldn't put the book down. I loved the detective team of JD Fitzpatrick and Stevie Mazzetti. They had an interesting mix of partnership and a personal friendship that was long-standing and extremely believable.I especially enjoyed how the search for the perpetrator was coming from two directions – and how the two investigations came together – on the one hand there’s the Baltimore P.D. with JD and Stevie; and on the other hand there’s the Private investigator Clay Maynard who’s looking for the same man, initially for other reasons. Clay Maynard is private detective and a cool character, he's an ex-cop and your typical gruff and rough PI, who at the same time cares deeply for those he feels responsible for. I understand he and Stevie Mazzetti will be at the center of the fourth Baltimore book and I look forward to that. The elements I enjoyed about this read is that it’s chockfull of well written dialogue, and that the pace was brilliant. The characters were very appealing. The elements that disturbed me were the gratuitous violence and too many dead bodies to prove a point. Also I didn’t understand the unrealistic fact that so many family members of the main characters were dead: Lucy Trask has a dead ex-fiancé, a dead brother. Detective JD Fitzpatrick has a dead wife. Detective Mazzetti has a dead husband and dead little boy. Combined with the killings occurring in the story - It’s just too much death for one book. THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT MOVIE. WOW!! I LOVED IT! IT WAS ACTION PACKED, I LOVE A THRILLER THAT KEEPS ME ON THE EDGE AND HAS ME TALKING OUT LOUD TO MY KINDLEFIRE. YIPES! THERE WAS HOT ROMANCE BREWING ON THE SIDELINES AND SOME PRETTY HOT LOVE SCENES (thought about "9 1/2 weeks") MERCY! THE KILLER WAS HMM! SO NUTS IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE, VERY INVENTIVE AND F*CKING SCARY AS ALL GET OUT! THE TELLING OF THE STORY IS WONDERFUL, SMOOTH WRITING, BOOK LEFT ME REALLY AMPTED UP. GREAT READ FROM BEGINING TO END (that's what i'm talkin bout!).
