About book You Are Now Less Dumb: How To Conquer Mob Mentality, How To Buy Happiness, And All The Other Ways To Outsmart Yourself (2013)

After reading McRaney's first book, I was interested in reading this one. It gave a lot of good information and I really found it interesting. Unfortunately, trying to read it amidst school and work, I'm not sure I remembered anything useful. This is a book I might need to go back to.I recommend this book to anyone who likes learning about the way the mind works. McRaney takes complicated mental situations and breaks them down and explains them in way non-neuroscientists can understand. Really damn good. It markets itself as some kind of stocking-filler self-help book, but that's really not what it's about. Much like its predecessor "You Are Not So Smart", it's a stunningly readable introduction to some very relevant and interesting psychological theories. Pretty much every chapter gave me new insight into how your own brain can work against you. Within lies the psychological reasoning for basically every human problem - from religious bigotry, to war, to why you can never win an argument with a conspiracy theorist on Facebook, no matter how much evidence you throw at them (the learning center of your brain physically shuts down when you're presented with information that challenges your beliefs). This book, along with its predecessor, will help you understand people as well as yourself.

Do You like book You Are Now Less Dumb: How To Conquer Mob Mentality, How To Buy Happiness, And All The Other Ways To Outsmart Yourself (2013)?

Pretty good, though not as good as the first book. A little repetitive and boring in spots.

More of the same from the first book, which is a good thing.
