About book Without Reserve: A Pride & Prejudice Variation (2000)

I do agree with other posters who say that Darcy and Elizabeth 'anticipating' their marriage vows is very uncharacteristic of both of them. And, in the case of this variation, it seems cheesy and amateurish, below the standards that I expect from Abigail Reynolds, whose variations I normally enjoy greatly.I did like the premise but the amateur nature of the Darcy/Elizabeth romance came very early in the story and never left. I'll admit I enjoyed this book but mostly as a fun frolic. There is rather little of substance in this novel and it could probably have been brought to a conclusion in much less space were it not for quite a few erotic scenes. There's much less conflict here and much more brooding and lust. Enjoyable, but not particularly thought-provoking. Having read quite a lot of variations at this point by various authors, this book neither made me laugh nor made me think about the ideas or social commentary. It is however, good for an ol' fashioned day dream / bodice ripper.
