About book Witch Weigh (2012)

We’ve all known them, and seen them in action: those people who have zero compassion or empathy, shallow and selfish and only out for their own success. And that is who Tessa is: witch with a capital B, she has zero time or energy to ‘waste’ on anyone who isn’t pushing her to new heights. Furious when she is denied a promotion she believed was hers for the taking, steps are taken to ‘adust’ her attitude. Oh if life were that easy, and that people could be shown just how horrible they behave to one another: and we get to see it all in Tessa’s learning lesson. She is given a choice – take a lesson and punishment or lose her powers. Tessa being who she is, and not averse to using her magical skills to further her own opportunities, takes the lesson. And what a lesson: sent to a spa with a gorgeous and hunky fairy godfather, she has to learn to use her personality to attract people, and gets a lesson in empathy. With a sweet romance (No Steam Here) and some interesting revelations, this was a quick book that gave some smiles and grins. It was not, however, without a few problems: too many scenes telling us where things are happening and less showing, and a general lack of development in the details that would have flushed out the story a bit better. Yes – this is a longer novella at 155 pages, but some attention to fully developing some of the interesting changes and twists would not go amiss. Still, it was fun, and anyone who can say they don’t have at least one moment of glee at the comeuppance handed to Tessa isn’t being honest. I purchased a copy of this title for my own library. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility. Witch Weigh is a fun, light-hearted, paranormal story with a touch of romance. Tessa is a witch who needs to be taught a lesson. She is selfish and doesn't care about others. The council of witches assigns a fairy to get Tessa turned around. They also take away her magic. She really wasn't expecting the fairy to be a gorgeous fairy godfather. This is a quick, light read that I really enjoyed.
