About book Wir In Drei Worten (2012)

¡Me encantó! I had high hopes for this. It wasn't terrible, and almost got a 4-star rating. It's a little hard to say why without spoilers, so I apologize in advance! This book is actually kinda real. It's relate-able. Rachel is the kind of person we all know, and we've all been. She does some really stupid things, and you can't help cringing because you've either been there or seen it happen. Towards the end we finally see a little (just a little) growth from Rachel. It's not a fairytale ending, and she's ok with that...she's screwed up, and she's going to make some changes. EXCEPT THERE'S ONE MORE CHAPTER. And in that chapter, cue fairytale ending. Ugh. I've been thinking, and I've come to the conclusion that we read fiction for one of two reasons: we want to escape, or we want to relate. We want a life/world/story that gives us what we don't have, or we want a life/world/story that makes us feel like we belong. This book attempts both, and that results in an unsatisfactory ending that feels contrived and cheap....and like the publisher said, "you've got to have a happy ending or this book won't sell." My advice? Stop at the second to last chapter.

Do You like book Wir In Drei Worten (2012)?

I really enjoyed this book and the plot lines defiantly threw me through a loop. I honestly didn't know how this story was going to finish. Rachel might get back with Rhys. No wait she isn't. It made me laugh, cry and have a silly grin on my face. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, especially those who like romance books. I did cry at the point in the book when Ben says to Rachel 'Please don't come looking for me again.' I felt so sorry for Rachel. I was so happy with the ending and would read more of Mhairi McFarlane's work. I really enjoyed being able to read about their past as I felt you got to understand the character's a lot more through the jump backs.

I really enjoyed this book on the whole. It was easy reading, if not a little bit predictable at times. The narrator (main character) was funny and there were points where I just laughed out loud. I enjoyed the nostalgia, of being a student and of being one from Manchester too. If I could offer some constructive criticism, I felt Ivor was a character I didn't believe in, a straight male hanging our with a gaggle of women, even if he fancied one of them. And name dropping was too much for me, it was as if there was a product placement in this book. But, as I have said, I enjoyed this and will definitely look at your other novels. Thank you.
