This could have been a 4 star book had it not been for the focus of the next book's heroine in this one. I liked that she added a snag to the h and H's relationship but I didn't want to know as much as I did, at least just yet. I didn't want to be put in her shoes, know her feelings and thoughts, empathize, or anything. I wanted for her to be the fly in the ointment that made things not so easy. That's it. The fact that it took up almost 30% of the beginning annoyed me to no end. Let me enjoy Amy's story and let me decide if I want to know Anna. 3 stars for the angst and tears I had for Amy. I liked this one better than the previous one, also on a similar trope - friend to lover. I really liked the way the heroine was depicted and how much we could get into her feelings. I personally liked that she did not fall for a bad guy coming into town, as that would have seem totally out of character. However Logan was lacking on quite a few aspects: his depression following the accidental death of two family friends was well depicted; I did not mind so much his being attracted to Anna in the first place, as she seemed very attractive and slightly dangerous. However it took him a bit too long to get his head straight. Overall I always had the feeling that, despite his community service job as a firefighter, he had always been a rather selfish and self-serving guy. And nothing in this book helped me change my mind about him. I felt he should have grovelled much more to get back into Amy's goodwill.
