I'm a little ashamed to say that I brought this book home, thinking it was the book by the same name by Wiseman! This was actually a young adult book (I'm in my late 60's), but in spite of that, it was a thriller/suspense story told by a teenage girl whose brother had recently committed suicide and whose father became abusive and mentally unstable. These tragic events were set against the backdrop of the life and loves of typical teenagers in high school. It was very well written and I didn't regret picking it up by accident. It kept me reading, and haunted me when I put it down. I would not recommend it for young people less than 17 or 18, however. When I first saw the book cover I was like, this is the book for me. I was randomly searching for a random book at the library and saw "What She Left Behind" sitting there waiting for me to take home. Basically the book was calling me so, I was like this book is mine. It all started with a nice and calm family which everyone wants. Don't act like you don't want one, and just accept you want it. But as I was saying, the book starts with something nice but when I noticed that Sara's father was acting like a complete psycho, I didn't know what to say. The first words that came to my relentless mind was to tell Sara to get out of her home and move away and the h*** she's in. A(I'm not going to give a lot of info.) Although Sara's dad was mean, he wasn't mean before Matt was alive. If you read the book you would totally understand me. We all know what Matt did was idiotic, but I some how know how he feels. (Sorry I don't want to spoil it.) Back to the review::: What She left Behind is a mind blowing, captivating, yet nail biting story that will have your senses feel the agony Sara goes through. You did what was right Sara!! Sara: Should've ran when she had the chance Sara's Mom: Why didn't you defend your daughter? (At last she did. )Alex: seen as an idiot but was actually a pretty smart person. (Sara's opinion.)Dad: crazy person who needs to go to a metal hospital for help. (How can you think your child was another person?) More.....etc. Bad Things That Could've Been Fixed::::Since the story line was plot out very efficiently, the author could've given the characters a little background check.( what I mean is..get more information from the characters. The thing that I disliked was when Sara flashed backed to the some television soap opera her and her mother watched when they had free time. OVERALL SCORE: 4.5
