This detective novel is about a well-organized, but brutal, criminal gang that attempts to rob the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN in 2008. It is quite realistic, IMO. The book contains very few editing errors, and only one minor inconsistency that I noted: The author asserts that it takes the same amount of time to travel by air from Minneapolis to Los Angeles (3.5 hours) as it takes to return to the MSP airport. Most travelers would tell you that it takes a bit longer to fly to the West Coast from the Midwest than it does to fly back.As with most of the author's novels, this one has a rather abrupt ending. It is, however, cohesive and easy to read, even though it is raw and gritty. I read this at the recommendation of someone and it's the first time I've read a book by this author. The book was interesting, the pace enticing enough to keep me reading. I finished the book in under a week.The dual plot line is partly the reason I enjoyed the book. When one plot line was slow the other one had some juicy bits.As there are a number of 'Prey' books I am guessing the author has written a few books with the same police character. I like it enough that I may read more 'Prey' books in the future.
