Received this through Netgalley and devoured it in one setting. I'm a big fan of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, and this book was kinda like an extension of that. Since I'm reading all over the place, I liked the description(the ebook does not have quite the hot and bothered/bodice rippingcover!! Of course, a love interest who wears a vest and buckskin most of the time could rip a bodice or two!! I love Jessica/Jessi's spunk. She really does grow up over the course of the wagon trail in more ways than one. While she's a tomboy forced to pretend to be the youngest of the Jones's brothers, she really becomes a woman. She stands up to one of the abusive men in the wagon train so that he can no longer beat his wife and children, she takes no lip from the resident hoebag, and she holds her own when it comes to her overbearing brothers or the tough as nails White Wolf. I loved when after she was discovered, she turns the tables on Wolf. Anytime he tried to get tough with her about being a woman and keeping her place, she would give it right back to him. There was a lot of twists and turns and adventure in the novel. It kept you guessing what might happen next to the main characters as well as the supporting ones. They were all woven together to make a great, full novel. I'm looking forward to reading some of the other books in the series.
