About book Whiskey & New York (2011)

Inadvertently led me to adventure my way to New York. This book was so refreshing when I bought it. It has such an approachable grit that is like a big, tough dog with really adorable eyes and drooly lips. Threatening but not really scary. This is even a graphic novel I would absolutely recommend as a way to introduce someone to the modern comics world. Julia clearly isn't cutting her teeth on her earlier comics anymore with this book and yet she retains the raw spirit of her past work. I loved this book. The first work of Julia's I ever read had me laughing at the image of barfing-up a kitten. Having read James Kochalka, Jeffrey Brown and some Roberta Gregory, I felt right at home with Wertz' female lunacy and personal pathos. But gaining insight into what makes dames tick by reading graphic novels authored by one such as this can only lead to despairing dating disasters. Still, Julia Wertz is some piece of work; overcoming her short stature is an inspiring tale of perseverance and endless straining to reach that thing on the upper shelf just out of reach. Truly moving.

Do You like book Whiskey & New York (2011)?

FIve stars for hilarity, but this book is not for those whom desire plot in a story. Very relatable.
