The three Jackson Brodie novels are all similar enough that it's hard for me to rank them, but they all have their own unique charms as well. Like the others, this one wraps up just a little too neatly, but not before a few genuine "aw shit" twists. Atkinson somehow makes certain characters likeable that I think I would find highly irritating if presented to me by other writers (in the case of this novel, Reggie). I didn't always understand the logic behind some of the moves taken by the characters, but that only served to make them more interesting as characters. In terms of crime fiction, this is about as good as it gets, especially when it comes to the quality of the prose. Ik vond het een mooi en spannend boek, mooie plot.
