2.5 stars! This was a hard book to get into. I think it was because I have stepped away from vampires/mortals genre. Couldn't connect with the characters to well and nothing really happened to catch my interest. Won't be reading the others in the series. It's a disappointment as KA is one of my favourite authors. Feel like I wasted my time reading this but, I couldn't not finish. Pretty boring to be honest! I was in the mood for some KA alpha maleness & also some smexy vampire love. Lo & behold, I discovered Kristen Ashley has a paranormal series about a smexy vampire who also happens to be full of alpha maleness! Score! The world-building in this story is amazing. I love the back story & history weaved in. Lucien & Leah's relationship is ... difficult. I found myself getting rather annoyed at some points in this one, but when it was good it was VERY good & my annoyance didn't last long. And in the end, I'm looking forward to the next two stories in this series & getting to know the next couples in this saga. : )
Really good alternate reality. Love the leads. Not smutty, and very well written.
