Well, well, well. Who knew? My taste has matured. When I was 15 I would have lapped this book up. Back then I was a mills and boon freak. I would borrow dozens of them from the library and read them as quickly as I could. Now books like this give me no satisfaction. The plot is so slow and boring. It takes pages for things to happen and the characters talk in cliches and have vacuous thoughts. When this book first started I thought for a while that maybe it was a mills and boon version of Wuthering heights. Kate/Catherine, Beau/Heathcliff, Asher/Edgar Linton. Then I realized that the book wasn't that sophisticated. Nup. I've definitely moved on. Oh my gosh... This book. I don't think I have ever cried so hard in my life, but it was so beautiful and I loved it. Officially one of my new favorite contemporary authors. I just wish I would have been prepared going into this because I thought it would be a cute love triangle romance and a good mourning period book. Uhm no this is some heavy shit and definitely an incredible story. Even though it made me bawl my eyes out I freaking loved it. 6 gold stars ❤️
2.5 starsThis book was meh. The ending was unemotional and didn't make me even want to cry. Meh.
