Book could have been ok, but I hate books that show what the bad guys are up to.Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.5 stars... I loved this book! It had earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP. I love a paranormal read that combines detective work, intrigue, mystery and delicious twists and turns. Well,"When Blood Calls" has this in spades. So, why didn't I give the book 5 stars? The reason is at times the plot seemed to drag out and I could only tolerate the subject in small doses.Luscious or Luke is the last vampire in his clan. We meet him hiding behind-the-scenes watching a police man look over the body of a retired judge he just murdered. He knows that they will be coming for him soon when they discover his ring he left at the scene but he does not care.Sara is an Assistant District Attorney who has a high success rate. That is why her boss has promoted her to a position in the court that specializes in paranormal crimes. First and foremost, Sara did not know that the creatures who go bump in the night really exist and her first case involves a man she just spent the previous night knockin' boots with. She also can't believe she slept with a monster Vampire).Luke has a mentally unstable ward he has upheld a duty to protect. When he discovers she was raped by the judge he is not about to let this go without retribution. Now his world is about to collide with Sara, the human he is strangely drawn to. Will his monstrous acts as assassin ruin any possible future for him especially since her job is to take him down?Discovering who the bad guys are versus the good is not going to be an easy task in this book since everyone seems to have secrets. However, the journey to unravel the truth is what makes this book so good. Try it for yourself and enjoy.
