As someone who has struggled with her faith, this book sort of hit home with me. Just like Samara, I’ve attended church all my life and even went to a Christian University where I still struggled with my faith and what to believe when things got really rough in my life. This book made me think about how feeling secure in your own beliefs is good, but feeling secure in other things outside of your faith is just as important. Even if you’re not a religious person, this is a really good book. I've found another brilliant author: Sara Zarr. I love how this book deals with a kidnapping, but that's not the main point of the story. It really gave the book a unique viewpoint. Everything about this book was sweet but distant and sorrowful. I wish there had been one of two more 'active' characters: I felt Vanessa and Daniel were pretty flat. This was a great book that deals with the dysfunctional secrets behind a family's door.
Love it love it. I was glad to find out Jody was alive. I love the spiritual concept.
