William Marsch fell in love with Maggie Krieger from the time that he first saw her. From that first moment, he wanted nothing more than to protect her from the violence that she had known her entire life, to show her just how precious she really was. And for a short time, he and Maggie shared their secret love, until it was ripped away, leaving him empty and angry, and Maggie a victim to continued violence. When William returns home six years later, passions are reignited, and he will stop at nothing to reclaim Maggie. There are books that stay with you, books that you cannot stop reading, even though your heart is breaking. WHEN WE COLLIDE is just that sort of book. A.L. Jackson has taken some really tough subject matter, and infused it with passion, grace, and perseverance. I absolutely could not put this book down; it owned me from the very first page. There are things going on in WHEN WE COLLIDE that are called 'triggers,' so I expected this to be a dark and angsty read. I was not prepared for how very beautifully it was handled, and how very vividly real these characters and their story became for me. The fact that a love story could emerge from so bleak a panorama speaks to A.L.'s prowess as an author. I look forward to reading everything else that she writes, and unhesitatingly give this book five stars. This is a tragic and very emotional story about William and Maggie. This book is very well written, at times it was a little hard to keep reading..because of all the emotional baggage that Maggie has. Poor girl had such a hard life and the only one that can take her away from it all is William. Who she pushed away 6yrs ago, because of the grief of losing Maggie..William moved away and swore never to come back. Which also drove a wedge between him and his family. His family never knew the reason why he moved. Until one day, William finally decided to come visit his family to be with them and his dying Aunt. When William finally came face to face with his long lost love Maggie, all his feelings that he tried to bury years ago came flooding back. He remembered all he wanted for them in the past, the love and the lost. On that same day he saw Maggie's son, who he has been dreaming of. The boy looks just like him. Is he his son? How can Maggie keep all that from him? This story goes on with William wanting to fight for what he lost years ago and he will do anything to get Maggie and their life back. Will he get Maggie back? Will it all be worth it?Come read the book and find out what happens to William and Maggie. This book also deals with a very sensitive issue. If you have a problem with reading about abuse, this book is not for you.
