About book Wearing The Cape: A Superhero Story (2011)
I admit, I have a small history with this book. I actually now have to refind the person who designed the cover and give them my review (as promised when I saw this cover on deviantart). I got the book because it interested me, and I was refueled to want to read it when I came across the cover design on the artist's site. I'm glad I read this book. I enjoyed it.In an alternate world, Superheros exist. It doesn't really say how, just that there was an Event and now they can exist. Hope was just an ordinary girl, about to start college, when she is caught up in an attack that causes her Breakthrough. Now, she's a hero called Astra. In a twist, though the heroes wear masks, practically everyone knows who they are. Except for Astra, whom they are trying to keep a secret. She's young and it shows. She has had a crush forever on one of the original superheroes, Atlas. Now she's his sidekick. She's not sappy and falling over him every moment, she acts very real. She has her crush, but when it's needed, she can pull away from it and do her work. She isn't gushing over how perfect and special he is on every page. She has real fears for her friends and real doubts about what is right and wrong. I greatly enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next book in the series. Fun read with an entertaining lead character and an interesting, developing world. What if super heroes existed in the real world? is the question asked and answered by the author and learning the answer is an interesting read.Character development, drama, adventure, and a hint of humor are all applied carefully to Harmon's canvas, and the resulting adventures of Astra and the Sentinels are the entertaining result. Definitely worth your time---It made a 5 hour plane ride disappear in a flash!

Great book. A little girly... I survived because the story held up past the fashion accessories.

Captivating start, but derails near midpoint. Complete wreck by the end.
