3.5 stars. While short, this is a good venture with lots of sex and some interesting exploration into family issues. I enjoyed the smutty aspects. As it's the first time both men have enjoyed the pleasures of another man, I would expect more awkwardness, but what we get is good. What I enjoyed more were the various responses the couple got. We get two very different families with equally different reactions to the new couple. Ty struck me as rather insecure about his bi sexuality considering how confident and outgoing he is, but with his upbringing and learning more about his family, that attitude makes sense. I wish his family weren't so one dimensional. We don't spend much time with them and learn mainly that Ty's father is quiet, and his brother is angry. Ty's niece is a sweetheart, but the rest feels like 'standard conservative family - type 3'. Landon's family, on the other hand, gives a realistic portrayal of a family, though surprised and needing some time to adjust their thinking, is supportive. Again, I wish we had a bit more time with them to flesh out their characters, but they were cute.I rolled my eyes at Ty early on when he wanted to break off the relationship just as it gets started, mainly because he's worried about his job. It turned out to be a non issue later, just as I would expect. Again, I wanted to see a little more of the characters during the break up. This novel certainly could be fleshed out more; however, it was a fun story for what we get. FTC: I have worked with this author before but got this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. This is a friends-to-lovers gay-for-you story that was cute but lacked a little something for me. If you are new to this genre, this could be a book for you but devout readers of the MM genre will probably find the ease that the characters settle into the relationship a little odd. For two men who have fought their feelings for so long they don’t seem to have any second thoughts or cold feet at any point.Did I enjoy the book? Yes I did. I felt that it was a light and fluffy read with very good sex scenes and a fairly sweet vibe running throughout. I finished it pretty quickly and, although it never really gripped me, it kept me entertained. I enjoyed the flow of the writing and the author is one that I would read again if something of hers took my fancy.I liked both of the characters. Both men have never experimented with that side of their sexuality before, not having motive to do so, but they want to try for each other. It is such a cute and lovely story but I didn’t feel the emotional angst that was being described. Everything came a little too easily and happened a little too quickly; they stopped fighting the attraction and then they were in the throes of a fully developed sexual and emotional relationship. There was no sexual awkwardness described, no quibbles as they both learned to adapt to the changes to their lives as a gay couple...it was all a little too easy. The only real issues were from the external attitudes from Ty’s uber conservative family. They were pretty douchey about them but they didn’t feature a whole lot in the actual tale. I think I have a preconception of the gay-for-you genre being quite angsty and this wasn’t. Maybe it’s just me....Overall, this is a book I would recommend to people who are just starting out in the MM genre. It is fun, light and a very easy read.
Do You like book Waiting For Ty (2013)?
I never bought this GFY scenario. Lots of sex, but no real cohesive plot.
