Maybe I'm getting to be an old hand at Crime Ficiton but I definitely guessed 2 of the "twist" elements to this novel (that being said, they were good twists). However, as with all of Lackberg's novels, my guessing didn't detract from the story. I wish there was more focus on Madeline's history, because her final scene was pretty heavy and perhaps the most disturbing part of the book. Her story alone would've made an interesting novel. It would have also been nice to have more insight into Karl and Julian, especially given how their relationship plays out (one of the things I guessed correctly very early on). It's only ever hinted that Karl's dad was a total dick, but there's nothing to back that up except Karl's an asshole. I'm also unsure if the revelation about his connection with Julian is meant to elicit sympathy for him in a last-ditch effort to make him seem more full as a character.I haven't read a Lackberg novel I haven't liked yet, and this one was quite good - although I found the many subplots took away from other themes that could have dominated the book a bit more, and been explored more deeply. Recently I bought the three Lackberg books out in the UK but not yet in the US in English translation. I love this series! Good puzzles, often one current and one from the past; well-rounded characters; wide variety of families; characters throughout the series who have grown; great setting; enough international flavor for interest and enough familiarity for comfort. "The Lost Boy" did not disappoint. And i was particularly glad I had it on hand when the previous book, "The Drowning," ended with a cliffhanger. The title of "lost boy" echoes through at least five characters, and this book has a lovely ghost story in it as well.
Do You like book Vuurtorenwachter (2009)?
Se me hizo muy cuesta arriba. Por lo general es una historia de suspense correcta pero sin chicha

En ollut aikaisemmin lukenut Läckbergin kirjoja. Tämä oli hyvä, pidin todella.
