About book Visions Of Glory: One Man's Astonishing Account Of The Last Days (2012)
This book held my interest from start to finish. I rate it 4 stars based upon the entertainment it provided me. I do not believe that this should be considered doctrine, but this book was thought provoking. A lot of cool ideas and theories. Who knows if the contend was truly provided by revelation as claimed. Honestly, I get the vibe that this man was obsessed with the gospel (not a bad thing in itself), and may have become delusional. Regardless, his story is interesting and I do think many of the more abstract concepts and ideas do make sense in the way that he portrays them. All in all, a fun read. Intriguing. Kept me interested. Lots of discussion. Lots of thinking. This is not the type of book I have ever searched for to read. The ONLY reason I did was because a friend brought it to my house and said, "I have got two so we can read together, would you pleeeease?"It set my mind going and urged me to be prepared. I decided it is important to focus on words from prophets and the scriptures especially when it comes to "prophecies". I believe anyone can receive visions and revelation from God. I also believe we receive those things for the use of our stewardship. The world (he published a book to the world) is not in his stewardship. This information could have just been for himself or his family. I also have concern when someone intentionally profits financially from their personal revelations, such as selling a book. The word "false prophet" comes to mind. I am on the fence about this though, this is not a concrete opinion that the author did something wrong.Having that said, it did urge me in a direction to do my own studying. I wanted to know, is this part true? Is that doctrine? It sent me on a 3 week journey. I spent over 30 hours studying and writing. I compiled information from prophets and scriptures about the events of the Last Days. So Visions of Glory was a good thing for me to spur my interest and desire to know more. It helped me in my personal progress and preparation. If it wasn't for the possibility of false prophecy then I probably would have rated is 5 stars.
