About book Venere In Pelliccia (2013)

Perhaps one of the cleverest things I've ever read, maybe even a play within a play within a play?? At least, the play is about a man who wrote a play based on a book. It's brilliant. I got nervous at first because it seemed that maybe Ives was going to spit up really obvious ideas about feminism and femininity, but I suspect he puts those in his characters' mouths with a wink because of the really interesting stuff he gives them to say later.5/5 David Ives is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, contemporary playwright. I wasn't sure if he could write anything but short one acts, since that is all he's done before now. But Venus in Fur changed that. It is a beautiful work that makes so many great statements about theatre and the way we treat those we love and the power struggle within every relationship. In addition, it runs the gamut of emotions. Ives does a fantastic job with this script and I hope he writes another full-length work soon!

Do You like book Venere In Pelliccia (2013)?

I'd probably like it more if I saw it, but it was kind of thematically thin to me - too transparent.

Okay read. I think it would be better to see it then read it. The ending did not do much for me.
