A well-structured plot which reinvents the standard genre on several levels. After the first incident there is blood and terror but then it's not quite what you imagine. The point of view is philosophically dark though not nearly as violent as many of her novels. It's as much about the criminal mind as about how crime affects the victims, how if we knew what was coming our way in life we might just run the other way.Note: read atop the slick rock on the East rim of Zions This is less a mystery and more a study of human nature. While I appreciate some of the points she makes, I feel like she's making the same point over again. Like, look at this every day darkness! While her point of view and style are unique from that of other writers, I don't feel like the points she's making are that different between her own novels. While Sejer and Skarre are their endearing selves, and these characters make the series for me, this isn't her strongest work.
pretty harsh in parts, unsettling, but overall a good story, with a mysterious ending....

Just great and very different. A real page-turner. I will read more of hers.
