Something drew me to Van in the first book. I rushed to read his book and was not disappointed. Van's a crazy, obsessive bastard through and through. He makes no apologies for the things he's done and the things he planned to do to his latest obsession. Amber. She's a handful of crazy. Agoraphobic, OCD but I loved her guts, her spirit. Despite her seemingly insurmountable problems, Amber had enough backbone to mouth off to Van. Not an easy thing to do. She found the strength to claw her way from the up and live a somewhat normal life. After the terrible way her ex-husband picked her apart, she found the strength to go on living. A truly inspirational heroine. The author managed to take two broken characters and give them a reason to change. I think Van and Amber save each other in this story. While Van has done some unforgivable things in the past, he manages to find redemption through Amber. A dark and beautiful story. I'll definitely keep my eye on this author. * ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW * Vanquish by Pam Godwin is book two in the Deliver series. You should read book one first for background on characters. It does say it is a standalone but I highly recommend book 1 first.Van’s story is seriously messed up. I mean you really are left wondering how in the world Pam will spin his story. He is a very sick twisted man who did some horrid things to Liv and the others. However, that being said the dude is super-hot!! I mean smoking hot! I was really unsure I would connect with Van but I was 100% sucked in. I love getting to read from his POV as well!Amber suffers from agoraphobia and OCD. She is very disturbed almost like being broken. However, she is super sweet and funny. She really has a great heart. Seriously, though she is riding the crazy train hard. Then when you throw Amber and Van together the sparks start flying. You have to read these sex scenes. It is like being a peeping tom into some heavy sexual stuff. I mean it is off the charts crazy good.No matter how seriously deranged or crazy these two seem to be apart when you throw them together it really works. I mean they balance each other out. They are each other’s ying and yang. Amber accepts Van flaws and kinks. Van really gets Amber as well. They have a strong bond no one will be able to break.Pam managed to suck me back into another crazy ride of a story and keep me on my toes. I am extremely impressed with her style and cannot wait to read more. This book will take you on a psychological ride and make you open your mind to the possibilities’ of accepting people for who they are. I give this book five stars and highly recommend that you pick it up today.Written by Jessica S for Summer’s Book Blog
