I was a bit disappointed in this one. It starts out pretty good, but really, not much happens. I think the problem is that there are two narrators both of whom are supposed to figure out why all these dead bodies are piling up, and nothing very suspenseful happens until near the end. The vampyre who tells her part of the tale starts out well, but repeats herself a lot. She doesn't actually do much of anything to discover the solution to the mystery - but just kind of walks right into it. I didn't dislike the book but I didn't really like it that much either. Fresh. Written in the POV of The Chateliane of Hollywood, Ovsanna, and Peter King, a detective with BHPD - and you can tell which view by the vamp lips or the smoking gun on the first page of every chapter. It was easy to become attached to the Scream Queen actress who deftly manuevered herself into head of a small, independent studio and to the somewhat kooky, self-absorbed and hunky cop who once was hired to advise on a police TV show and so knows what fame is like. There is no way you could fail to enjoy the secondary characters like Doug and Orson *smile* and I am definitely looking forward to the follow-up book. Who knew Adrienne Barbeau had it in her?

Really good book. Different and fast paced. I can't wait until the next one comes out August 2010.
