For this book, I simply have to make a list of things I loved:- Pace's story is a cute tale on the surface, but it actually touches on etiquette, strength in family, and accepting people for their differences.- Pham's illustrations are simple, lovely, and reminiscent of the classic Disney books from my childhood.- The cross-section illustration of Vampirina's castle is fantastic!- Who doesn't love a tale of kindly monsters?! When I first saw this title, I wasn't sure to expect of this book. It is about a girl named Vampirina who is a vampire that dreams of becoming a ballerina. She looks a little different from the other girls in her ballet class, but Vampirina works hard, practices and eventually performs in the ballet recital. Throughout the book, the illustrations portrayed Vampirina feeling left out. At the end, she looks like she is fully included with her fellow peers. In the classroom, this book could be used to teach hard work, self confidence and inclusion.
