This wasn't one of the better books in this series. I liked Nicholas and half way liked Jo even though she was a bit over the top at times, but what really bugged me was the ending. Lousy way to end a book. Lots of things left unexplained. It could be a kick off to the next one but it didn't even feel that way. Felt more like she didn't know how to get herself out of a writing box. I'll still read them but this one was a disappointment. Setting: Argeneau security gated house; hotel rooms; vans;Theme: assumptions of guilt that no one (including the perpetrator) investigated; doing what is right; protect; love;Characters:Nicholas Argeneau: 700 years +; enforcer; 50 years found and lost his life mate; found with a dead/bloody woman on his lap, assumed he killed her in his desperation; a rogue for 50 years – though he still steps in to correct wrongs when warranted; helped protect Sam in last book, even at risk of being caught; amazed that he found a rare second lifemate;‘Jo’ Josephine Willan: Sam’s sister; manages a bar a night, and earning master’s degree in marine biology by day; too busy to date; goes with sister to Argeneau house for a party – unknown to her to meet vampires to see if she (and her 3rd sister) might be lifemates to one, and then Sam would have company when changed; the men come up to them, stare at their foreheads (she describes it that they stare like them like they have penises growing out of their foreheads)… she goes outside for some fresh air;Lucian Argeneau: judge, jury, and executioner of rogues; funny when the gang tries to keep Nicholas out of his view when he unexpectedly turns up at their house; but especially with his lifemate, he is fair and reasonable… and he’s going to check everything outLeonius Livius: no fanger – has it out for the Argeneaus, Ernie - Bad-Breath Boy / Dee: one of Leonius’ sons – one of two sons who has fangs; he is tracking the Argeneaus and is eager to take an Argeneau and a lifemate to his father to earn his father’s approval; he infiltrates the secure house, and attacks Jo – and later on he kidnaps her; Dee is one of a family of 6 that the Livius’ attacked, fed from, raped, and they took her and her sister on the road to Mexico to use as food; in Mexico they hook up with a sister who is strong – and Ernie does not rape her (not interested in sex), he feeds her to be healthy before he takes her blood, and took her on his road trip for food, and implies that if she behaves, he will turn her;Sam and Mortimer: as enforcer, Mortimer is keeping an eye out for Nicholas – and is willing to use Jo as bait; Sam takes Jo’s side when she wants to protect and prove Nicolas’ innocence;Bricker and Decker: enforcers; on the fringe; supposed to protect Jo and keep eye out for Nicholas;Annie: Nicholas’ first lifemate; quiet disposition; she questioned why his father did not come to their wedding, and asked everyone to try and figure it out; in her last call to her husband, she was excited to have information for him – but then was killed in a freak accident; Armond Argeneau: Nicholas’ father; has secluded himself on a farm (actually rotates through 5 of them, changing every 5 years); had 3 amenable wives (only 1 lifemate), and all 3 died in mysterious ways; is that why Annie died and Nicholas was set up? hmmmmSummary:Nicholas realizes that Jo is his lifemate when he rescues her from Ernie, and when he sends her a mind push to return to the house, she doesn’t go. They talk a bit, they share a kiss – he goes after Ernie. And he knows he cannot claim her – he could not take her on the run; the other enforcers wipe Jo’s memory of the attack, but she ignores the impulse to go to bed after glancing out the window and seeing them escort Nicholas to the garage, and because she needs aspirin; Jo overhears them talking, and her memory returns in blips … and she decides to go out to free Nicholas; they share a few more kisses, then he disappears.and when tracking Ernie again, he ends up rescuing Jo again when Ernie sneaks in without the other enforcers seeing her. They escape with her dog (whom Ernie had thrown against the wall)… he takes them to a vet with the intention of leaving them and calling the others to pick her up, but she insists she is going with him – she wants some answers; they get a hotel room, he goes out for food (both blood for himself and chicken for her), and returns to find her asleep – and he’s eating the chicken (lifemate, right?) sharing with the dog; he falls asleep next to her, and they share the same erotic dream, of finishing sex in the cell where she had freed him… and when they both wake up turned on, he tries to be honorable and duck into the bathroom, but she follows him, and throws herself at him – and he decides to enjoy the moment… when he falls asleep, she goes out (first taking the dog out), then gets money from the atm in the hotel lobby, picks up a pizza, and when she returns, she hears Bricker and Decker – they traced her there because of the atm… she sneaks away, runs into a friend, gets Nicholas and dog (he mind suggests so that no one notices the dog), and they escape through the kitchen; They go to her sister Sam’s abandoned apartment – finally get to eat the pizza – have hot sex – and he tells her all – vampires, atlantis, lifemates… and then he tells her why he is considered rogue and what it means… she listens to the story, and when she realizes he doesn’t remember anything between being angry at seeing a pregnant woman who looked like his wife, and then being home in his basement with the woman dead, bloody, and blood on his mouth, she decides he is innocent… he would not do this… if he were going to do it he would not have taken her home, he would have killed her right away; and she decides someone killed his wife, and then set him up…. What did she figure out? They have a night of passion, he takes a bit too much blood to ensure she’ll sleep late – and he leaves her (though to prove his innocence before he claims her), calling the enforcers to pick her up… but as he is watching nearby to make sure all goes well, he sees Ernie drive by with her in the car…Rescue again… but this time Dee shoots, and Jo jumps in front of the gun to stop it from hitting Nicholas and is hit in the chest; Nicholas turns her because she is dying; he calls Mortimer, and tells him he needs help, and wants his promise he can stay with her until the turning is complete plus one night; he loads up the van, after throwing Ernie and Dee in the back and rushes to the complex; they nurse Jo through the turning with drugs and IVs of blood; when she awakens, rather than spend a night of sex with Nicholas, she insists they work on proving his innocence… the Argeneau women show up with his sister (who was close to Annie)… and they all begin to get on team Nicholas – his brother and sister did not believe he was guilty but did not know how to help him - now they can; and Lucian shows up to collect his wife… Jo gives him what for… and he has already ‘seen’ the blank in Nicholas’ memory that should not be there, and agrees to investigate - though he wants Nicholas and Jo locked up in one of the garage cells, and deputizes Marguerite and Sam to make the cell comfortable first… And the story ends 2 weeks later – where Nicholas and Jo have had 2 weeks of sex (as much to explore their attraction as to keep distracted), and Sam & Mortimer comes out to say they are free…Lucian is on the way to share the story with them all.
Do You like book Vampire Küsst Man Nicht (2012)?
Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!!!See I just knew that Nicholas was not the rogue we thought he was, and although I'm a little surprised that his story came along a little quick it is definitely a must read story.I completely loved how this book continues from the previous book and how Samantha is trying to hook her sisters up with immortals by throwing a party. I also liked how Jo was able to slip easily away and accidentally bump into the rogue and Nicholas. I also enjoyed reading about the spark that instantly kicked off between Nicholas and Jo and how it almost seemed impossible for them to be together.I liked how Nicholas wanted to do what was the right thing even at the very end but I also liked that Jo wouldn't take any crap and just knew when to follow her instincts. I also enjoyed how Jo was out to prove Nicholas`s innocence and do anything possible to ensure their futures together.Nicholas and Jo make a great couple and even with the clock ticking were able to make the most of every situation. This book is definitely one of my favorites of this series and I just loved it from the beginning.

Even though this was my second book in the series to read, it is still my favorite. The first book I read was The Rouge Hunter, and while I thought that book was going to be the best I was mistaken. In this book, I love the drama and passion that Nicholas and Jo have to go though to be together. While all of the stories have this in some way or another this book stood out to me the most...But overall I loved it :)
