I read 16 and 17 back-to-back, so this review is really for both of them.Vampire Knight is one of my favourite manga series but the second half definitely hasn't quite lived up to the first. These volumes do have some good character moments, particularly for the supporting vampire cast, but plot-wise, they seem rather stuck in a holding pattern. There are a few decent revelations but not a whole lot really changes. But it's still Vampire Knight and it's still not a bad read. The art is gorgeous and it is nice to see the supporting cast show their personalities more. It's just not as dynamic as the first couple of arcs. YAY YUKI! I admit it-I'm a Zero fan. Hugely. Indecently perhaps. I liked Kaname okay in the beginning (AKA the first 5ish volumes) but he's WAY too possessive and he won't let her DO ANYTHING. Like really anything at all. It's almost like he doesn't respect her for the ways she is, he's too caught up in how he wants her to be. Zero might not be entirely sure how he feels about her being a pureblood yet and there is strain but he's protective without being overbearing and appreciates her for all the ways she is. I think he's just scared of what she might be, the potential of what she is. He still has faith in who she is, even if he's not ready to admit it ;)Matsuri Hino indicated the series is winding down- I hope Yuki ends up with Zero!
Do You like book Vampire Knight, Vol. 17 (2013)?
I can't believe that this is soon coming to an end, and... WHAT'S WITH THAT ENDING?
