This book snagged my interest as I am familiar with Lauraine Snellings work, & her Red River Characters. I really enjoyed this story & the description of life in Norway in the 1800's. I found her mom's attitude towards her sad & wished that it had been explained. I haven't read all of the Red River of the North series though, so maybe it is in there somewhere. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series now & "catching" up with Ingeborg & family. First off, I can't believe the ending. I understand this was supposed to be a prequel to some amazing series. But the way it ended felt more like a very very very long prologue. Plus, it was boring. I'm sorry, but it was. The idea itself was intriguing, but it just kind of went on and on. To no end - literally.I'm sure her other books are better and I'd be tempted to try them. Graded a C.

Liked it. It was good to get the background on Ingeborg's story.
