Manning was one of the very few Cantor Fitzgerald employees to make it through 9/11. She was running just late enough that she wasn't at her desk when the plane hit, but she was in the lobby. She was engulfed in flames when a fireball came down the elevator shaft. She was burned over 80% of her body, and this is her story of how she recovered. Her husband published a book of his e-mails on the 6th anniversary of the attacks (Love Greg and Lauren), which I also read. Manning comes across as bossy and bristly and frankly not all that likeable. I mean, she was a bond trader. But I'm sure that drive and attitude helped in her recovery. That and loads and loads of money, which she hints at but doesn't ever directly address. Anyway, it's a quick read and she seems to have made a remarkable recovery, which is great. The book was inspiring, taking something that should have never happened, but did,taking you with her as she was put in this place of unbelievable pain, terror, finding her way through it all, and then sharing her insights, joy and love.Thank you for strength to write and share, and inspire others in terrible ordeals that they may find themselves in.Where there is life there is always, always, hope.
