About book Uncanny Avengers, Vol. 4: Avenge The Earth (2014)

Another great entry in what is one of my favorite on goings right now. After the last collection ended with the world being blown to bits I was wondering how they were going to follow it up. I was not disappointed. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but I will say this: I was glad to read a book where the villains actually win. The Apocalypse Twins, and Kang, have been scheming and planning for years, or in Kang's case maybe even decades or centuries And surprise, surprise, it actually works! Holy shit. I've really become a fan of Remender's writing. I think he does write things for the long game, but he seems to have a better handle on it then Hickman does. With Remender he has other stories going on at the same time, instead of just one long story. It really keeps it from getting dry. This book ends the storyline that's being going on in Uncanny Avengers for two years, but really it started during Remender's Uncanny X-Force days. Yet it never managed to feel stale. I've been reading the Marvel Now Avengers and the New Avengers and they've had one continues story, and it's starting to become a bore. I'm not trying to write a comparison between Remender and Hickman, I'm just pointing out that they both write long stories, but I like Remender's way of doing it better. The art in this book is fucking amazing. I first saw Acuna's work in a copy of Wizard Magazine, and I was admittedly attracted to it. His use of color is fucking awesome. When he's coloring the white on Havok's uniform it looks like he is using pure white. I mean, it's really white, like super white. It's just such a neat use of color, and there is more of that through out the book. I really dig it. Plus, the design of Magneto's outfit is really great. It's a shame we won't get to see it again because I don't think he has ever looked better. My two big complaints with this book are, in a way, one complaint. I don't like that most everything done in Volume 3 was undone in this book, and I don't like that they took the easy way of the story: Time Travel. Man, time travel has really been getting over used lately. It's just such a letdown when everything that happens becomes meaningless because the hero's just travel back in time to undo everything. I would guess that this was the plan for this storyline all along, since it does involve Kang, but it doesn't change the fact that it was a big letdown. Still a great series and still on the top of my pile! If you haven't been reading this series you should check it out! Marvel NOW! #0 has already given us a warning that the Marvel Universe is going to be complicated. And this reaches its fulfillment in this fourth mini-series involving my favorite Marvel NOW! Group. In fact, one has to go back and forth to truly understand and get Rick Remender's drift, as well as see where this is headed.A few points:-Kang! Kang! and definitely more Kang!-Thor? Definitely missing here. But at least the way social media is flooded with a female Thor already gives us a clue as to where the Norse god is headed.-Will the Alex-Janet partnership persist? I highly doubt it.-Gotta love the new-look Shiro. Thanks to the celestial being!

Do You like book Uncanny Avengers, Vol. 4: Avenge The Earth (2014)?

The finale of the epic Kang/Planet X storyline. I find Acuna's visuals really well done.
