This new trend of short novellas is frustrating when the first book isn't completely riveting, which this book sadly is not all that great. Starts off with a great deal of promise though. Jo is one step away from being homeless, pawns her favorite necklace just to pay her rent. She has one lone friend in the city & it sounds like she has some secrets from her past, secrets so bad that she hides within herself. Even covering herself with her hoodie & attempting to fade into the background Jo still draws attention as a beautiful woman. While fighting off some bad men outside of the pawn shop Colt saves her & whisks her away on his motorcycle. Jo is surprised by her body's instant reaction to Colt, so unlike the disgust she normally would feel, far from it. It appears Jo has her first crush! And Colt, the gorgeous MMA fighter bad boy, gets Jo a job at his gym. I think he saw something more than Jo's beauty - he watched her fight & knew she had potential. Then the book dissolves a bit, Colt is seeing another female fighter, or is he? Then why do the sparks fly when Colt is around Jo & why does he kiss her? And why does she let him when she seems to have boy issues from her past? Colt is semi-famous as a son of a very famous boxer and that is a whole other issue. Just ok, not really enough to make me rush out & buy book #2. Probably more a four and a half star.I have become a reader that will only read stories that come in parts when all the parts have been released. Now that I have read all 5 parts of 'Uncaged Love', I can make a comment. While I am not a fan of MMA or boxing, I found that I really didn't have to be to like this story. The characters are strong and the storyline good. I have fallen in love with Jo and Colt, their story is classic. I was cheering for them at the end. A story filled with passion and human triumph.
