About book Um Homem Inquieto (2009)

Henning Mankell is such a gifted writer that his genius shines through even in translations of his work from Swedish. I've followed all his Kurt Wallander series novels for years and was anxious to read the final book, The Troubled Man. The morose detective still found no joy in his life. That was no surprise. The confusing part about this story was the plot. It was all over the place - Hints and clues signifying nothing or never explained. The story left me wondering who was the troubled man, Kurt Wallander or Henning Mankell. I discovered this novel because I had seen some of the BBC shows because Tom Hiddleston starred in them. Would the novel disappoint because, alas, there would be no Tom? No!!!This novel is somewhat slow paced but really a quite enjoyable read. The reader plods along with Wallandar (the detective) while he gathers clues to solve the crime. Just like in real police work, not every little question is going to be answered - while that was slightly annoying, it was realistic.I found the Wallander character to be enjoyable in his gruff, moody way as he wants to stop his investigation but keeps on going. In a surprise from so many "crime" stories, I don't recall any swearing (thank you) and no explicit sex scenes (thank you again.)In my search to read my first Wallandar I selected one that I had not seen as a movie. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I selected the last Wallandar story. So the disappointment is that it is over now.
