This is one I had to make a second attempt at reading. There's a lot to these characters, at lot of backstory that's important, but the delivery of all of that bogs down the first third of the book. I knew it would be worth reading, though, McKenna always is, so I finally picked it up and pushed through. Previous books have shown the powerful McCloud brothers (and Seth) saved from their internal, emotional downward spirals by giving, accepting, yet steely women they, in turn, have to save from various savagely inhuman gangster types. Tam breaks that mold, of course, having always been one of the guys in her badassery and emotional trauma. Put her together with an equally screwed up and badass tank of a hot guy who's sent to drag her back into the nightmares of her past, and you gotta wonder how these crazy kids are ever going to work it out. Another difference in this book, it seemed to me to have less erotica vibe than previous efforts. Plenty of violence and savagery, man's inhumanity to man stuff. McKenna is a fearless writer and I admire this about her. I was glad to see Tam rediscover herself as human being and finally settle down with a nice guy. McCloud fans shouldn't skip this one. I kinda want to go back and reread the series now. Mmm Mmm Mmm... Val Janos... This is Tamara's story, but the BIG bonus is you get Val Janos, and with Val, you get some of the most explicit, erotic sex scenes thus far in the series. And yes, they are good. That's it for my review. There are a million others here you can read, it's a great book, a riveting story. Book 6 in the series- if you haven't read books 1-5, start with book 1!Just remember, I'm the one who told you about Val Janos... mmmmm....
Do You like book Ultimate Weapon (2008)?
I'm rating this one up, because I like Tam as a character in the other books.
