About book Twitteratur: Weltliteratur In 140 Zeichen (2009)

I think this book would have been better if I had read more of these "classics." Twilight and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club should not have made it into the book. There was also a lot of Russian Literature but not War and Peace. Some of the books that I had read I didn't even recognize from the tweets because the tweets were so snarky when the characters would not have been. All the "tweets" were obviously written in the same style and it would have made more sense to have different styles to reflect the wide historical and cultural differences of the characters. Twitterature is based upon an excellent concept: literary classics reworked as tweets. As an avid reader and compulsive user of social networking site Twitter, it immediately grabbed my attention. I would recommend it to anyone with similar interests. It was very witty - I particularly liked the @usernames - and at points I was laughing out loud. If you haven't read the book being parodied, the jokes obviously won't work as well. If you have, prepare to be amused. Some of the parodies are better than others; my favourite was Sherlock Holmes, but each to their own.The appendix at the back was both informative and amusing, designed for those without Twitter accounts or an understanding of online subculture. Had it been placed at the front, those not in the know would probably have enjoyed the book more.Overall, Twitterature is a good book. I'm glad that it's out there in the world.

Fun, concise, even a little insightful at times. Who beed's Cliff's Notes?

So disappointing. Not witty. Really just summaries. Sparknotes. Bleh.

Thought it would be funny or creative. But it was just dumb.
