Ok, yes I gave this 5 stars because dear Lord was this an unexpected good read. Did I like the ending or how absolutely aggravating some of the decisions made by the characters? No. They were down right stupid and just prove how lies and miscommunication can make a bad situation exponentially worse. This is one story that has it all for sure. Young love, a love triangle, TWO murders, mystery, lies, an unexpected pregnancy and still I did not guess who committed the last crime until 5 pages until the end. Not YA although mainly because it deals with more adult topics, no gratuitous sex. But it does show how decisions we make as adolescents can haunt us most of our lives. A compelling read. 5 stars I had read Roses by this author and thought I would give another by this author a try and I am really glad I did! I found myself eager to continue on in the story to see how things would unfold. As I read I could imagine the scenes and the characters right down to their expressions. The ending of the book contained quite a few surprises, and for once the who done it wasn't the most predictable character! I would recommend this one for anyone who enjoyed friday night lights, because I feel like you can become absorbed into the hero worship of the towns star football players but also get to see the reality of no one belongs on a pedestal.
