This is about the 8th time I've read this so I should review it. As a spin-off of Wolves if Stone Ridge we get to follow Maelgwn as he woos his mate Bobby Truman.Maelgwn is a gargoyle who came to Stone Ridge to help Tible & Gus of Declan's pack. While there he catches the scent of his mate. Maelgwn is 7 foot tall, dark blue with long black hair, black wings, claws and large canines. He has to get Bobby, who is human and doesn't know about paranormals, to trust him without seeing him before he can reveal he is a gargoyle. Bobby is in a relationship with Seth and being abused by Seth's friends. He has friends that are paranormal but doesn't know that. I love Charlie Richards world building. I've followed 'Wolves of Stone Ridge', 'Kontra's Menagerie', and now 'A Paranormal's Love'. The characters move back and forth between all the series and you should read them all to understand how they are all connected. There is the usual 'mate pull', the claiming bite and the binding as is expected in all paranormal romances but each pairing has their own battles, fears and danger to deal with. For 'Trill to me Sweetly' Bobby has to end his relationship with Seth before he will agree to go out on a date with the tall, dark, mysterious stranger who just saved him from a mugging/rape. After a great first date Bobby accidentally sees Tible in gargoyle form so Maelgwn has to reveal himself earlier that expected. Every book in all the series' has it's Happily Ever After but each is unique and you end the book feeling like you've made new friends! Really sweet. I know I should complain about clichés, insta-love, unrealistic situations, etc...but I don't want to 'cause I ended up enjoying this despite all that. I've been meaning to read about Maelgwn since Gus and Tible's love story and I wasn't disappointed in the least. Was it groundbreaking? No. Creative? Nope. Brilliant? Hardly. But...it was weirdly fascinating and satisfying so I don't regret it.
