Did you ever feel weird after reading a book? I mean, in a not-so-good way? Because uh.. that's what I felt after reading this book. I read in one-sitting but I just... WTF HOW DO I EXPLAIN THIS!!!!First point: WHERE THE HELL ARE THE PARENTS? Seriously? Why are they letting their stupid children go do stupid things? Second point: The characters. I like the main character. The best friend was pretty cool too. The girl was just plain annoying. But they all have one thing in common: they're all stupid. I know that there isn't going to be a story if they always do the right thing... but some things that happened in this book just made me cringe and want to throw the book. Third Point: I'm so confused as hell.Fourth Point: The ending. No. WHATLast Point: No. JUST NO. This book is about a boy named Jacob and he finds out when his foster dad, Mr. Fielding died he transferred a super power to Jacob. Invincibility. He and his friend Milo meet the new girl at school: Oh, and they try to figure out the power together throughout the book; where did it come from? Why did Jacob have it? What exactly could it do? And to what extreme. Then Oh suggests they use to power to save other people other then them; after each life they save the power grows stronger but they don’t think anything of it, they are still figuring out the power for themselves. As they find out more about Mr. Fielding and they link everything together they get closer to completely figuring out this super power. The three friends are dealing with more than they can handle and have no idea. I really liked the suspense of the book, you had no idea what would come next and I don’t like when a book is predictable. These characters were believable; they have their difficulties and make wrong decisions like us. While I was reading the book, I thought everything was going well, Jacob was going out with Oh and they had a great relationship, the annoying guy from school had left, and they seemed to have the power under control but then it all slowly started to go downhill. I don’t want to give anything away but the plot definitely thickens. It was a quick read but there were some unnecessary details that made some parts kind of boring. The only thing I would change is the length of the chapters. I like to stop reading at the end of a chapter, not in the middle of a paragraph but in this book the chapters were really long so if you wanted to read you needed to make sure you had lots of time. I would recommend this book to teens who like intense, suspenseful and kind of mysterious books. I don’t normally read this genre but I really liked this book!
Honest, this book was a big let down for me. I wasn't really thrilled or awed about the twist in the end. I didn't really like the characters either. Jacob just suddenly becomes kinda "obsessed" with Oh when he only met her like 13 days? And Oh seems like she had two split personalities. But her real personality also seemed a bit too bossy and demanding. The only character I actually liked was his best friend, Milo. Despite Jacob abandoning him for Oh, he still helps out in the end. Plus, he's a pretty humorous guy. I'll give credit to the book that it had me guessing and wondering. I also felt it was very intense in certain parts. I think this book would be defined as mystery and paranormal book. Maybe romance too.
