This is such a great book. As soon as I started reading it. It had me hooked from beginning to end. Having previously read some of Zane's other books I was expecting it to be as sex filled as the others. However I was happy that it wasn't. Even though sex is mentioned Zane writes in a way that is tasteful and with meaning behind the words. When reading about both couples sex lives you could tell that there was something missing. Brooke was a character that I could relate to as I also am self concious about my looks. However she is a great character and the way Patrick treats her is awful. It's like he has no respect for her and liked the element of control that he had over her. Damon is a loving man who loves his wife Carleigh unconditionally; but it soon becomes clear that she does not feel the same. Over time she shows her true colours and when he looses his arm her attitude towards him completely changes. When Brooke and Damon meet they are like a breath of fresh air to each other. I like that Zane tackled the subject of people who are emotionally involved with each other as many people don't see that as cheating. Brooke and Damon loved each other way before they had even made love. Which was quite nice to read about. There are so many things that can be learned from reading this book and it made me look at certain aspects of my life differently. Even though there was a twist at the end even if she revealed it in the middle of the book it wouldn't have taken away anything from the book and it would've been just as good. Zane is fast becoming on my favourite authors. Very good book. I didn't want to put it down. It's a book about how two people's lives intersected and how they eventually fell in love etc. It is told from each of their lives. Brooke and Damon. While I can't tell you the detail without spoiling it, I loved the end because throughout the book I made an assumption but at the end I was amazed at the revelation because of my assumption. I listened to this book and I think I assumed the way I did because of the voice of the reader. And even still at the end you still don't know which is which, which is what I believe the authors' intention was!!!
Amusing, the characters are a bit shallow. The story too predictable.
