The third book of Horwoods sequels to Grahams book.Once more, for me, he recaptured all the joy,magic and good humour. After a few lines I so can fall into this unforgettable world of Toad Hall, The River Bank , the Wild Wood again.I love Grahams book and thankful to Horwood he is bringing back those much-loved characters and I found myself becoming all over again addicted to this storys.This time the story takes another twist, as a female character turns the peaceful world of the River Bank upside down and the exasperating Toad fell in love for the first time and Ratty and Mole take an adventure streaming down the river.I love the illustrations from Ernest H.Sheperd , he enlightened The Willows and for example Winnie the Pooh , but in this books Patrick Bensons drawings are superb to those of Shepards and I love,love,love them!They make the books perfect and I so can dream away looking at them.
"Toad triumphant" is not a bad book at all, but it's not as charming as the first either. There is too much "dejà-vu" here, the flow is exactly the same as the previous work: Mole and Rat will have their own adventure (which will involve the "Beyond"); Toad will make something very stupid for which he will be nearly hanged (but of course he will again be saved by his luck) and Badger, Otter and the rest of the company will simply watch the story unfold under their eyes, without too much power to
