I agree with one of the earlier reviewers comments. The authors writing seemed a bit lazy. She didn’t really develop the characters past to the point the readers would understand WHY Lord Rothbury loved Charlotte. Lord Rothbury and his love came out of nowhere. A few flashback from their past would have been appreciated because then we could see how that love manifested and we could actually believe the chemistry between the two. They seemed more like two strangers coming together as friends which would have made a better story. This book was lacking a number of things, engaging storyline, emotional connection, sexual tension and maturity. I knew from reading the first book in the series “Bride Hunt Ball” that Charlotte was going to be immature and flighty…and I was RIGHT!....I was midway through the book and was going to chalk it up. This book actually surprises me, because the first book was a fun read and the 3rd book “Guarding a Notorious Lady” was the best book…I’m not sure what happened to the author during this book…hopefully nothing personal was going on in her life because her writing seemed distracted. I don’t recommend you waste your time… I had such high hopes for this one. I was supposed to fall madly in love with it. Although I couldn't even finish the first book in the series, "I've loved you for six years" thing got me. But in the first chapter I felt the same disappointment I felt reading At the Bride Hunt Ball, and by the third chapter convinced me this author can only write a very choppy stort using anachronistic language. The way characters behave makes no sense at all.
Really enjoyed this book and think this is the author's best book out of the three.
