About book To Challenge A Dragon (2004)

The plot sample from Amazon was enough to encourage me to buy Dragon Actually. Who wouldn't want a dragon friend? Annwyl is amazing. A female warrior who is knicknamed "bloody" wants to kill her half-brother. She fights for the good of her people- not for accolades or aspirations. Only to right the wrong of Lorcan- who wants to kill her. When injured in a battle she is saved by a dragon Fearghus, who hasn't left his cave in 200 years. He becomes enamored of the virgin and is charmed by her fearlessness. They become friends and with the help of a witch and a warrior, Annwyl is healed and trained to fight to win. Her affection for the dragon interferes with her attraction to the warrior he has sent to prepare her to defeat her brother. The book has a great love story, and some funny scenes, especially with Fearghus' siblings. I was surprised to find another book after this one, on my kindle. At first I thought it was a sampling of the next book in the series, but it actually is more of Feargus' background and family. It was longer than a novella but shorter than Dragon Actually. Again some humor and both stories had violence. I liked Chains & Flames but Annwyl's story was better. There was just more to the plot. But I will try the next book in the series. This was a well-rounded book. Romance, paranormal action, and the funniest dialogue I’ve read in a long time. Imagine my surprise when the story of Annwyl and Fearghus ended and that of Fearghus’ parents began. Yipee!Aiken engulfs the reader in the dragon’s world. Annwyl will now forever remain one of my favorite characters. She was such a wonderful, dynamic, take no crap from anyone kind of woman, who also had a vulnerable soft side.Feargus was an alpha to the core. Who better to be with such a strong woman? No other would have been able to be with her, she would have killed them.I’m so glad that there are more books in the series that are already written. I don’t have to wait.
